Logistics.

Logistic planning is a very important part of a digital media production, particularly if there are a lot of people employed to work on a set. For a mainstream film and the amount of people/vehicles/equipment that need to be managed (above the line and below the line). At the other end of the scale, there are some digital media productions that require minimal logistical management due to a lack of equipment, people or locations for example ebooks or independent radio productions which take place in one studio. Essentially Logistics is how are you going to move all of the things from one place to the next, big or small, safely and efficiently? It's all about organisation

Time:

  • Deadlines- the reason deadlines are so effective is because they make large projects or goals more manageable. It can be beneficial for producers as they wont want to waste anytime as time is money.

  • Availability of equipment- Make sure all equipment is booked prior to shoot such as transport to location, power etc so time is not wasted during the shoot

  • Availability of personalNeed to make sure all cast and crew know what time to be at a shoot so it can be done quickly and efficiently and make sure they all sign contracts and have a copy of a call sheet

  • Time scales- Different types of media productions will have different timescales which need to be considered - the more locations used the longer it will take to shoot

Facilities:

  • Production equipment

  • Post production equipment

  • facility houses

  • prop houses

  • sourcing and cost of facilities.

Locations:

  • Recce's- In order for projects to run smoothly location recce's need  to be put together to  to recognise the positives and potential negatives such any dangers. A thorough risk assessment should also be carried out

  • limitations and risks

  • E.g distance, access, cost, weather.
